Joey, the Big Brother.
I think a lot of people fail to see the beauty and the purpose of our special needs community, maybe not intentionally, but because they have not been given the gift of being around a special person. I understand that our babies may not be "perfect" in the world's eyes and their worth may carry less value than others by the world's standards, but as I have observed Joey's interactions with people through the years, he is very special in most people's eyes, and he is a gift to those who gets to interact with. If anything, his presence causes those around him to pause and consider his differences. In those moments, empathy, understanding, and patience are all part of the interaction. I think our world needs a lot more people who have the ability to exude these qualities, and our friends like Joey help us to see beyond ourselves to think with more compassion. Joey very much has purpose.
Although Chandler is still small and thinks Joey is the best toy ever, it's very cute to see his interaction with him. I am very thankful that Chandler gets to grow up with a big brother like Joey.
Joey turns 3 this Saturday! Some prayer requests-Joey has been having more frequent seizures and they can get pretty scary. Please pray that the seizures lessen or that we can find the right plan of action to address them.
