I think I'm getting anxious for going home. Joey has been on his home vent for almost a week now and he is doing so great at it. Once we got the correct exhalation port, he didn't skip a beat. The problem is that the side exhalation port is on a national back order, so we just have one port. I found a local Nashville momma who brought me two, and I have another mom that is mailing some to me. What happens after we run out of all the extras that I have gathered? I wanted to try another exhalation port called the swivel whisper 2, but I'm afraid there's a lot of dead space that Joey will not be used to. Bottom line is, I feel like we're just sitting there waiting and waiting, and I just want to go home. Again, this goes back to trusting God's timing. Joey has another echocardiogram to look at his heart scheduled for Monday. I'm hoping that will look good. The thing to keep in mind is that he has been off of his blood pressure med for a while, so I'm wondering how that will impact his heart issues. I would also like to wean off of some of the vent settings since Joey is hanging in there like a champ.
Some new things about Joey-he spiked a 101 fever, but he is also foaming at the mouth. We think he is teething again-poor kid. Even in the pain, at least he has kept up with his respiratory status, whereas before he would have struggled mightily.
Hopefully, we will be on the path home soon!
