G-Tube Drama

Joey is still on vapotherm of 4 liters; we are trying to give him about 3 days to adjust to his wean. I noticed that the first day is always a little rough, but as the days progress, the 3rd day he seems to do well.  Today his FIO2 requirement ranged anywhere from 32-38, which isn't bad for Joey. He was very playful and managed to maintain his oxygen saturations when he was more active. Last night he was also given a dose of the gabepentin to alleviate some of the major fussiness he was experiencing.

This morning I walked into Daniel holding the tube in his hands, because the balloon with the gtube had deflated. I wonder if this was the reason as to why he was so fussy yesterday. Maybe this site was aggravated. Daniel literally had to hold this tube in until the resident could come to put everything back in it's place. This gtube has not been the easiest transition.

Joey was very playful in Daniel's arms today and this evening when we came back from dinner, he was happily looking at his play mat and one of the nurses was playing with him. I think I even caught a smile.  After his crankiness yesterday, I was grateful to have a fun day like this!

Joey started out on his belly, but found his way out!
