Drug Addiction is Real

This morning the x-rays revealed that Joey’s lungs were improving, so we were excited about that. Today the challenge was starting the wean from Precedex, which was explained to me that it was more of an anti-anxiety type of drug. Well watching Joey being weaned from this, tells us that drug addiction is real and there’s a reason why drug rehab centers are very expensive. There is an art and a science to this, and it’s so hard to watch someone have to go through this. Seeing this in itself is a reminder to never get hooked on drugs. I will say the crying must be good on his lungs and I hope this boy can make it over the hump soon, because it is not pretty. Before he had his meltdown today, I  held him for an hour today which calmed him down. We also had him sit in a more elevated position on his boppy. He has also had a consistently high blood pressure, so he was prescribed a drug to get that down. Some prayer requests for Joey today: getting weaned from drugs. Joey also has a friend a few doors down that will be getting another chest tube. Mom and the doctors are worried, which is causing this mom to worry on their behalf. I have to remind myself that we live by faith and not sight, and that we must pray and give this to God!
